I will write this in English, although I am perfectly capable of writing this in Greek as well. I am a Greek-American guy, who travels frequently to Greece, and who maintains a residence in Piraeus. Whenever possible, I try and make purchases in Greece, in part to support the economy, but also because one finds quality, value and service in Greece. And so when it came time to become a third-time godfather- a "νονός" (back in NYC, this 3rd time around), I naturally thought of making the associated purchases in Greece, during one of my frequent trips: all these items are exorbitantly costly in the States; anyone who has been through it, will tell you. First and foremost: the cross. I visited a few shops, and I was striking out: selection was mediocre, pricing was on the high-side, and customer service lackluster. The photos sent for approval back to my cousin in NYC (the mother of my godchild-to-be), were consistently met with a "thumbs-down," and I was becoming quite frustrated. And then, one afternoon...like an epiphany, I came upon the Monogyios Jewelry Boutique on Vasileos Georgiou Street, during an early-evening walk in this convenient & attractive section of the city. It is not a very large store, but it is well-lit, tastefully appointed, and with the subdued elegance I appreciate in the establishments I patronize. I was assisted by Katerina, who was knowledgeable, intuitive, and above all, patient with me! Professional, but with personality. Although we conversed in Greek, her English is flawless (and I believe, a few additional languages under her belt). The selection of items was really neat, and even got me excited (and I'm a guy)! It didn't take long to find the perfect cross, which ultimately resulted in my (demanding) cousin's approval, and allowed me to enjoy the rest of my time in Greece. In a word -and I know I have written many: this is a first-rate outfit, and I shall be a returning customer...perhaps for a ring..who knows? (applications taken here) Shop well, and thoughtfully!
