★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The monument of the unknown Skiathos sailor is located at the entrance to the small peninsula - Bourtzi , at the seam between the old port of Skiathos (on the south side), and the new port (on the north side). It was made to commomorate the unknown local sailors, who lost their lives in the sea.
Do not miss a short walk at Bourtzi peninsula, that contains remainings of fortress that was built in 1211 by two Venetian brothers, in order to protect the town from pirate raids.
And if you have time, you can sit at the Bourtzi municipal restaurant/ cafe, listen to nice music under the pine trees, and enjoy the magnificent view of this wonderful town.
