★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Me and my partner decided to visit the Balos beach/lagoon. We had to pay a €1.00 fee per person to enter. The reason that the person at the entrance gave as was that this money goes towards the maintenance and the build of the road to the sightseeing (which apparently is a "NATURA" protected spot).
We drove our car on the most rockiest and bumpy road, very close to a cliff. Highly NOT recorded road for the cars. On our way back, Maria, who was the person in charge to take the money from the visitors, was sitting on the side on her mobile and in the meantime cars were entering without paying!! I find this very unfair for people to pay to enter but more unfair is the fact that some people pay and some don't. I would not recomend any tourist to visit that place under the fact that they have to pay for it. Other than that, the view is very nice but my opinion is that is not worth it at all! Cheeky way to rip off visitors. No work has ever been done on this road. Not for the past few years anyway. Shame on the Municipality of Kissamos.
