Interesting place but footpaths are not paved nor walkable by elders or people with disabilities. In some point leaning can be dangerous... Maybe with some maintenance... In the night, with all the lights, is a beauty!!

Small climb up a modern stepped path allows for easy access. The area of this castle is quite extensive. Some of the walls and buildings are quite well preserved. Accordingly, as it's located on the highest point in Myrina, the views are superb over 360 degrees. As a recommendation, take some water with you, it can get very hot in the sun!

A spectacular view of the city of Lemnos and the harbor there! The castle itself is massive, so you'll have a long walk around its fortifications, and get to admire a gorgeous sunset there!

Amazing experience. Go for the stunning sunset. We went with 2, 6-yr old children and a 9 year old so we were a little limited in the full exploration given the terrain in some parts can be dangerous. Walk through the cave- it's a passageway to the otherside.

An ancient and byzantine castle that was reconstructed by the Venetians in the 13th century. Built on a rocky peninsula above the port of Myrina, the capital of Lemnos. It's the largest castle in the Agean Sea. The castle covers an area of 144,000 sq. meters. It is surrounded by a triple curtain wall with 14 towers. The height of the walls is 8m max. and their thickness 1.5m. From the top you can see clearly the mountain Athos specially in magic moment of the sunset. Also you can see a small lighthouse. If you are lucky you can see some deers. You will need about 20 minutes to reach the top. The trails in the castle are not in so good condition. Wear your sport shoes and respect the place.

It's absolutely free to explore this extensive fortress. Layered with history, it's been in the hands of many empires, from the Byzantines, to the Ottomans, and Germany during the second world war. Incidentally, the place is honeycombed with tunnels, some of which you can still access and walk around in. And the views are amazing. Just keep in mind, it can get extremely windy.

One of the most beautiful and well-preserved fortress in the Aegean sea. Many descriptions of the castles buildings and so rich content in it. Offers amazing views all around the island. Better to visit the castle days with good weather cause its tallest peaks are a little dangerous Wish you have fantastic vacations!
