★ ★ ★ ★ ★ For walking passengers: absence of signage, and barriers is highly dangerous and confusing. Port personal unwilling to communicate in English.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Helpful staff - we didn't know we had to check in or where to go. But asked and everyone was polite and helpful. Strange watching immigrants getting chased about by the police as they try to smuggle themselves into vehicles!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I arrived at Patras from Brindisi in Italy when I was travelling Europe by rail. I used Grimaldi Lines ferry and everything went smoothly and I remember my trip fondly, we slept out on the top deck, you probably can't do that now. Getting from the docks to the station was a doddle.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ New Port far from the town with nothing do while you wait endlessly to board your ferry, except consume overpriced food and drink. (An ice cream was 4 Euros.) The terminal building is air conditioned and has clean toilets but without toilet seats (in the gents at least). My ferry arrived from Italy and departed more than 3 hours late. There were no public announcements so it was anyone's guess what was going on most of the time. The queueing system for Passport control seemed to be largely ignored by southern Europeans who pushed their way past the rest of us.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Greece government should let immigrants to buy tickets on double or triple price and let them go to Northern Europe so greece can get rid of migrants.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ the worst experience ever!! no signage, no guidance, no information, no toilet, just chaos- not only we were lost, also all the other tourists as well. So so bad for the Greek reputation! and so stupid of the Greeks to treat the guests so badly! common guys, put yourself in the shoes of a tourist using the port for the first time, it would be easy to get this right. But no, the Greeks are trying hard to annoy the tourists as much as possible. very very disappointing !

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I read many negative reviews and I'm wondering if the other reviewers have been to the ports like the one of Ancona etc.
The new port is much better and spacious than the old one, you can avoid going through Patras altogether. Inside the check in building there are plenty of stores, toilets and other amenities.
For me the biggest problem is the absence of shade for the passengers/bikers, you can't have them wait under 40-42 degrees during the summer, I mean that is a torture! I don't think it costs too much to place some kiosks. I remember myself waiting to embark with my motorcycle wearing all the equipment and the helmet, I was about to faint.
Another negative thing is the limited presence of personnel, this could solve many problems and direct passengers to the right place.
I disagree with other reviewers mentioning that the staff does not speak english, whenever I had to speak with someone it wasn't a problem.
