★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Ο Νίκος Ξυλούρης ή Ψαρονίκος γεννήθηκε στις 7 Ιουλίου 1936 στο ορεινό χωριό Ανώγεια Ρεθύμνου από οικογένεια με μουσική παράδοση και πολλούς λυράρηδες. Αδέλφια του είναι οι επίσης γνωστοί μουσικοί της κρητικής μουσικής ο Αντώνης Ξυλούρης (Ψαραντώνης) και ο Γιάννης Ξυλούρης (Ψαρογιάννης).
Ο Νίκος Ξυλούρης, που αναφέρεται επίσης σαν το Αηδόνι της Κρήτης έκανε καριέρα στην Κρήτη αρχικά αλλά στη συνέχεια μετακόμισε στην Αθήνα, όπου συνεργάστηκε με τον γνωστό συνθέτη Γιάννης Μαρκόπουλο. Το 1971 ξεκίνησε κοινές εμφανίσεις με το Γιάννη Μαρκόπουλο στη μπουάτ "Λήδρα" και η φωνή του έγινε σύμβολο της αντίστασης. Εκείνα τα χρόνια συνεργάστηκε στενά με τον Θρακιώτη τραγουδοποιό Θανάση Γκαϊφύλλια στις μπουάτ της Πλάκας και σε συναυλίες σε όλη την Ελλάδα. Το καλοκαίρι του 1973 τραγούδησε στο θεατρικό έργο «Το μεγάλο μας τσίρκο» με πρωταγωνιστές τον Κώστα Καζάκο και τη Τζένη Καρέζη στο θέατρο "Αθήναιον".
Ο Νίκος Ξυλούρης πέθανε στις 8 Φεβρουαρίου 1980 από καρκίνο, σε ηλικία μόλις 43 χρονών.
Nikos Xylouris or Psaronikos was born on July 7, 1936 in the mountain village of Anogeia Rethymnon, a family with many musical traditions and many lyricians. His brothers are also well-known Cretan musicians Antonis Xylouris (Psarantonis) and Yiannis Xylouris (Psarogiannis).
Nikos Xylouris, also referred to as Cradle of Crete, first made a career in Crete but then moved to Athens, where he collaborated with renowned composer Yiannis Markopoulos. In 1971 he began joint appearances with Giannis Markopoulos in music hall "Ledra" and his voice became a symbol of resistance. In those years he worked closely with the Thracian singer Thanassis Gkaifyllias the boites and Plaka in concerts across Greece. In the summer of 1973 he sang in the play "Our Great Circus" starring Kostas Kazakos and Jenny Karesis at the Athens Theater.
Nikos Xylouris died of cancer on February 8, 1980, at the age of only 43.
