★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Το ιστορικό διδακτήριο που κοσμεί τη Γουμένισσα, κτίστηκε το 1894 με δαπάνες του προύχοντα Θάνου Ζελέγκου και στέγασε το πρώτο ελληνικό σχολείο κατά την τουρκοκρατία. Το σχολείο διέκοψε τη λειτουργία του το 1970.
Πυρκαγιά στις αρχές τις δεκαετίας του 1980 απείλησε να το αφανίσει. Στα μετέπειτα χρόνια, στέγασε το Δημαρχείο, τους κοινωνικούς και πολιτιστικούς φορείς και υπηρεσίες εκπαίδευσης.
Πλέον έχει περάσει και πάλι σε φάση φθοράς.
 The historical doctorate that adorns Goumenissa, was built in 1894 at the expense of the prominent Thanos Zelegos and housed the first Greek school during the Turkish occupation. The school closed in 1970.
A fire in the early 1980s threatened to wipe it out. In later years, it housed the City Hall, social and cultural institutions and education services.
It is now in a state of decay again.
