★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Το κάστρο των Παλαιών κατακτήθηκε το 1423 από τους Οθωμανούς. Τότε οι χριστιανοί κάτοικοί του έφυγαν και εγκαταστάθηκαν σε χωριά του Πηλίου.
Εντός του κάστρου οι Οθωμανοί έκτισαν τζαμί και έκαναν τις δικές τους παρεμβάσεις. Το 1889 κατεδαφίστηκε το μεγαλύτερο μέρος των τειχών για να ενοποιηθεί ο χώρος με τη σύγχρονη πόλη του Βόλου.
Σε όλο το λόφο τα σύγχρονα κτίσματα συνυπάρχουν με τα ίχνη του παρελθόντος.
 The castle of Palaeus was conquered in 1423 by the Ottomans. Then his Christian inhabitants left and settled in the villages of Pelion.
Inside the castle the Ottomans built a mosque and made their own interventions. In 1889 most of the walls were demolished to consolidate the area with the modern city of Volos.
Throughout the hill the modern buildings coexist with the traces of the past.
