About Paralos Yachts

In ancient Athens, citizens living close to the sea, as fishermen, sailors or ship builders were called “Parali”. So “Paralos” means the man who lives and also his job is related to the sea. “Parali” were in charge of maintaining “Paralos” one of the two warships used by the city of Athens only on state missions or for conveyance of high ranking Athenian statesmen.

The boat was of the trireme type, with 170 oars.  The boat was kept mostly out of the water, in order to be dry. It is estimated that a trireme could maintain a cruising speed of 5-7 knots and reach up to 12-13 knots during battles. Paralos were much faster than the average trireme! Inspired by this boat the Parali whose seamanship made Athens the strongest navy force at the time, we carry our name with great respect and pride!

We rented a sailboat with a skipper for a week and the first day the boat was not ready, it was delivered to us in the afternoon. The skipper did not leave us at any time, he did not want to sleep on the beaches, he always tried to make us sleep in port, we spent a night in the port of Poros right in front of a nightclub and we could not sleep at all, he did not want to take us with the dinghy To have dinner quietly, we had to leave the dinner unfinished to return to the boat and on the last day they left us in a port far from the main of Athens without transportation service and a boy from a ship next to us had to help us to get out of there. Thanks for doing everything so wrong.
