Went for a late lunch. The specialty grilled trout was delicious and the smoked trout with everything a delight.

I highly recommend this wonderful taverna. I turned up with a big group of friends without a reservation. The friendly and efficient staff seated us; the service was very quick. The grilled trout is delicious and should not be missed. Friends who had meat dishes were very satisfied with their skilfully cooked meals. We were served a delicious complimentary desert and the cost of out meal was extremely good value. 5++ stars!!

Lovely nature surroundings, good service. Tends to get crowded though, so plan ahead. And the village square is great for a tsipouro or two! ? Recommended! ?

The place is literally inside a forest! The food was very tasty with the trouts being the star of the show either fresh or smoked. It deserves the detour?

A few km away from the main road between Doirani and Serres, away from busy tourist routes, this is a cool (or let’s say colder) place to serve the dinner in a hot summer evening. The road is long and steep, and while passing through the narrow and windy streets of Ano Poroïa, seeing other taverns along the road, one might think that he or she is on the wrong route. Yet your patience will be rewarded at the very end of the road. The tavern is welcoming you with the gentle breathe of the surrounding forest, a nice smile from the staff, the pleasant sound of the river that is flowing by. From time to time a cute little cat is playing in the garden. The menu is showing traditional food along with some very well known international specialities like viener schnitzel or beef stake (buffalo actually). The salads are prepared on site, from scratch, using as much as possible local products. The provided spirits are produced in the nearby town of Serres. And let’s not forget about the fresh trout! Definitely we’ll stop here when our routes will bring us in the area. The tavern was recommended by the owner of the guest house we are staying for a night, by the Lake Kerkini.

This one was one of the best places I visited, the taverna has great food, fresh trout from the fish farm nearby, many varrities from buffalo meat which are bred in lake of Kerkini. In general the food was great. The service was very fast, despite the taverna was growded, the staff was very helpful and proffesional...! The whole area was full of plane trees, there were many activities like horseback riding and hicking and in the village of Ano Poroia there were many cafes and other tavernas also. But the best of all was the taverna Pestrofes! A very nice place for a day excursion!!!
