In 2008 , after recommendations by English friends who had used Phoenix to build a house I chose Phoenix. I dealt with Alan Thompson a partner of Yianni Fronomakis. I chose the "Eagle Plot" a 5,400 square metre plot overlooking Souda bay and a house of 130 square metres with swimming pool. A standard purchase agreement was made showing the stages of payment required as the building progressed. This included all taxes and IKA payments and solicitors fees and planning permision fees including architect fees for a building permit.It also contained a provision for providing rental accomodation in case the house was not completed by the agreed date. When I saw the plans of the building I saw that the plot was divided into two and after some research realised that my plot was too small. I pointed this out to Phoenix who sent me a revised plan showing that my plot would be enlarged by taking a 10 metre wide strip of land from the other plot. I paid the initial deposit of 144,000 Euros and was told that building would begin as soon as the building permit had been approved. My solicitor advised me that a mortgage on both plots was held by the bank and that the builders had confirmed that they would pay this mortgage. What happened next I shall summarise as follows:- Both plots were mortgaged to the bank, neither had been redeemed by Phoenix and I had to pay the bank 140,000 Euros to begin construction; the architect had not obtained a building permit because he had not been paid by Phoenix for previous work and so I had to pay him to obtain a permit. Allan Thompson left the company for reasons unknown to me. Yianni Fronomakis told me that his engineer Dimitri Manioudakis would be responsible for completion of my house and I should pay him directly.This I did and the house was eventually completed one year later. In the meantime, having sold my house I had had to rent accommodation. One year later when the builder's electricity agreement expired and I had to provide proof that the building was in accordance with the permit I was called by my solicitor to a meeting at which the engineer, plumber and electrician were present. They refused to sign off the house since they would be required to pay IKA on the money they had received for their work; they had not been paid by Phoenix so would not sign off the house unless I paid the IKA payments.I had no choice if I wanted to have electricity! My house which was supposed to have cost 394,000 Euros actually cost 500,000. Fronomakis disappeared; both Phoenix offices had been sold and were now a cafe and a clothes shop respectively. Allan Thompson and his partner now have an Extate Agents called "Dreamchatchers" and are doing well. In 2019 I noticed a new office in Plaka called "Phoenix Construction". My investigations revealed that the part owner, together with a company called "Albatross"is the same Yianni Fronomakis! Through personal emails and conversations together with a new solicitor I have tried to reclaim the money owed to me over the last 12 months. I have discovered that after 5 years any legal agreement is no longer enforceable. Phoenix Construction and Yianni Fronomakis is doing very well, building houses and buying new expensive vehicles. I am now a poor 74 yr old. The moral of this story is that if you want to buy a house in Crete-BEWARE!.

I met the Phoenix team about a year ago. I needed help with some construction work for the apartment. I was very pleased - the team works very well and quickly. The best Construction company in Chania - Apokoronas.

I was interested to improve and renovate my pool. One of my neighbors told me about the Phoenix team. I booked an appointment and came to the office. A representative welcomed me with traditional coffee and a glass of water. We negotiated the details with the owner himself. Then we visited my place with the constructor from Phoenix. In a day I had a detailed offer from them and accepted it with minor changes. There was a delay in the beginning due to Covid measures. Nevertheless, I was satisfied with the project termination and with the construction quality - tiles, finishing and e.t.c. I would recommend the team a lot.

My daughter and I are very pleased with the work of the Phoenix-Crete company. The team works smoothly and quickly. We needed to paint the walls and update the bathroom in the apartment. And we turned to them, the workers came, made measurements, we agreed on the work, terms and cost. The work was carried out inside the apartment, so the weather did not bother us. We were satisfied.
