★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Ο Νικήτας Σταματελόπουλος, γνωστότερος ως Νικηταράς, ήταν Έλληνας οπλαρχηγός και ηγετική μορφή της Ελληνικής Επανάστασης του 1821 κατά των Οθωμανών. Έμεινε γνωστός και μέσα από το ψευδώνυμό του, ως ο Τουρκοφάγος.
Το προσωνύμιο Νικηταράς, του αποδόθηκε μετά την Μάχη στα Δερβενάκια και υιοθέτησε ως επώνυμο ο γιός του Ιωάννης μετά το 1854.
Γεννήθηκε το 1787 στο χωριό Μεγάλη Αναστάσοβα των Πισινών Χωριών του Μυστρά.

Το μνημείο
Η προτομή είναι μαρμάρινη και απεικονίζει το Νικηταρά σε ώριμη ηλικία με παχύ μουστάκι και γιλέκο. Στην βάση της προτομής αναγράφονται τα λόγια:

Πρόκειται για ένα έργο του γλύπτη Γρηγορίου Ζευγώλη. Τοποθετήθηκε το έτος 1936.

 Nikitas Stamatelopoulos, better known as Nikitaras, was a Greek chief and leading figure of the Greek Revolution of 1821 against the Ottomans. He also became known by his nickname, the Turkophagus.
The nickname Nikitaras was given to him after the Battle of Dervenakia and was adopted as a surname by his son Ioannis after 1854.
He was born in 1787 in the village of Megali Anastasova in the Pisin Villages of Mystras.

The monument
The bust is marble and depicts Nikitaras in adulthood with a thick mustache and vest. At the base of the bust are written the words:

This is a work by the sculptor Grigoriou Zevgolis. It was installed in the year 1936.
