★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This is the northern trailhead to the highest summit of Crete (Mount Ida 2456m). There are a couple of other alternative routes but this is the most straightforward, as the trailhead is accessible by asphalt road and the path is signposted and clearly visible. The trek is really breathtaking and should take between 2 to 3 hours to the summit. Good physical condition is recommended. Note that this northern trail receives a lot of snow and is only suitable for very experienced hikers in winter time.
