T	Torsten Uhr on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Fährt man durch Chandras im Osten von Kreta, dann sollte man unbedingt einen Abstecher zum verlassenem Dorf Voila einlegen. Am Fuß eines felsigen Hügels liegen die zum Ende des 19. Jahrhunderts verlassenen mittelalterlichen Ruinen. Eine himmlische Ruhe liegt über der Anlage und man wird hier auch kaum auf weitere Touristen treffen. Man kann also ganz gemütlich durch die Anlage stromern und besichtigen was vom Ort noch übrig geblieben ist. Speziell der festungsartige Wohnturm mit seinen Tonnengewölben lohnt näher unter die Lupe genommen zu werden. Über dem Eingang lassen sich noch eingemeißelte Ornamente bestaunen und auch die Gewölbe im unteren Geschoss sind gut erhalten. Die etwas erhöht gelegene Kirche war bei unserem Besuch geöffnet. Das heißt der Schlüssel steckte im Schloss und lud so zu einer Besichtigung ein. Hat uns alles sehr gut gefallen. If you drive through Chandras in the east of Crete, you should definitely make a detour to the abandoned village of Voila. The medieval ruins, abandoned at the end of the 19th century, lie at the foot of a rocky hill. A heavenly peace lies above the complex and you will hardly meet any other tourists here. So you can stroll comfortably through the facility and see what is left of the place. Especially the fortress-like residential tower with its barrel vaults is worth taking a closer look at. Carved ornaments can still be admired above the entrance and the vaults on the lower floor are also well preserved. The slightly elevated church was open when we visited. That means the key was in the lock and invited to take a tour. We liked everything very much.
