★ ★ ★ ★ ★ What a beautiful place! Did not know such beauty existed so close to Thessaloniki along with a timelessly rustic shelter! Food was great after about a 45 minute hike, which you can make it as long as you want. We had the choice between mushroom, pumpkin, bean and its all-time famous chestnut soup (kastanosoupa)!! There was also a beef goulash (kokkinisto) with oven baked potatoes and twisted noodles for our junior friends, and all priced very reasonably! Plenty of room for kids to play and plenty of parking if you decide to dust people out on their hike!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The lodge is located in the middle of Chortiatis mountain, and is accessible either on foot following the main hike route from Chortiatis village or by car using the gravel road (can be muddy after heavy precipitation). The facilitators are experienced mountain and nature lovers and they can provide information and guidance for various hiking and rock climbing routes at the surrounding area. Additionally the hut offers great food and accommodation for groups and individuals during the whole year mainly the weekends.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We walked to the refuge from Peristera. A beautiful walk. In the hut there was a simple menu with nice food and drinks. I am happy that the refuge is there, and works!
