R	Robert on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We got lucky yesterday evening and found a table without prior reservation. What followed was an evening like none before on Crete. The food was fresh, local, tasty and the hospitality and friendliness of the staff was beyond compare. Get pita bread (lots of it) and chose from the daily dishes. Desert and water are on the house, which is really nice too. All in all it was our best dinner of the vacation and I can recommend the Retro family tavern with my whole heart

We loved this place!! The local food was really tasty. The people was very friendly. Looooved the retro filet! Will definitly come back next time we visit Crete!

We came 2 days and the dishes are very good and every day Dimitri's proposals are excellent dises of the day. The bottle of water and the dessert with the digestive shooter offered is really nice. Thank you for this good moments

Grilled mushrooms were great and not over sauced. Plate of the day was good value. Side note: for the person who gave a 1star review because this place has an Anne Frank photo, you shouldn’t be able to make reviews.

Greek salad was ok but the tzatziki was on the bland side ,tasted more like yoghurt than a tzatziki, but our main courses were spot on delicious: gemista (stuffed veggies) reminded us of home and the pork tenderloin with the cheese sauce was very tender and very tasteful. Raki was nice and we got treated to yoghurt with a spoon sweet at the end. Fairly priced as well! Would recommend!

To our surprise the owner decided to open for a two couples that placed themselves in the tables outside. 99.9% of the restaurant owners would have sent them away but Dimitris is a different kind of host, a gem that is rare to find and precious to the world. We also asked to stay and he agreed, explaining that he could not offer us the full menu, considering that he was supposed to be closed. What he prepared for us was simply fantastic, I had grilled prawns and my wife got the grilled lamb chops. They were both extremely delicious and the portions were really generous. Thanks for being such a wonderful host Dimitris, we will come back very soon ??
