"Pirene was the name of two sources in the city of Corinth: One was near the agora, also called" lower "because it was in the lower city. The other was on the southern slope of the Acrocorinth, through which it flowed.1 It was here that Beleforon tamed the horse Pegasus.2 1 A temple in honor of Sisyphus stood at the foot of the "upper" fountain. 1 Pausanias mentions that it was adorned with white marble and next to it was a statue of Apollo .2 The first structures of the fountain date back to the archaic period (7th century BC). It underwent no less than nine transformations during its history. The present form of the fountain dates from its restoration by Herod Atticus "(Wikipedia). According to classical literature, it was in this source that Glauca, the daughter of King Creon, burned for the clothes that Medea had given her.

Also so ein verkorkstes Personal ?
Directly with the first pictures we had taken with a mini tripod (as we would not be able to take pictures for two), a co-worker arrived in such a condescending tone that I should immediately pack away the tripod. To the next guests who wanted to take a picture on the way to a stone, were also stupidly turned on. So a messed up staff ?

From the 5th century, it is one of the most beautiful structures in the archaeological site. Rebuilt numerous times, it was built on a natural spring. The Romans added an open fountain in a 14 square meter courtyard and covered it with marble walls. In the 2nd century the side walls inside the rooms were painted dark blue and decorated with fish paintings. There was also a small terrace behind the fountain, which had two openings, one of which led through a staircase to the sacred spring. In the 5th century B.C. the spring was above the surface and gushing through the heads of two lions that are currently in the Museum.

The most noteworthy source of Ancient Corinth, which according to mythology is the source's bride, Pirin, was the daughter of Asopos or Zeus.

Era o reservatório de água da cidade. As primeiras estruturas datam do século II a.C..
It was the city's water reservoir. The first structures date from the 2nd century BC. After the Roman invasion, it was the first place to be rebuilt. The perennial source consisted of six chambers that gave access to three deep basins supplied with water by ducts dug hundreds of meters behind the forum (agora). The water was stored in four large reservoirs.
