We just returned from an amazing time in Santorini. We utilized tripadvisor extensively before our trip - and felt we just had to leave a quick review of our highlights. We stayed at Kapari Hotel in Imerogilivi and felt it was the perfect hotel in the perfect location. I could not imagine a better place to stay. The service, location, room, food was perfect! The views from Imerogilivi are fantastic - and the town very laid back and relaxed. Loved walking to the local market for wine and beer! We walked to Thira - which is longer then what everyone had said - and we are young and fit! Thira is very nice - we had to great meals there and loved it there. We spent a morning in Oia as well. We enjoyed it very much - very picturesque until the dreaded cruise shippers arrived. The town becomes packed and definitely not as enjoyable. We were extremely happy to be off the beaten path and staying in Imerogilivi. We utilized the bus system - and it was surprisingly modern and efficient. Our best meal was probably at Anjoi in Imerogilivi. It was busy and service slow - but food amazing and cheap. I can still taste that milk pie desert!

I loved this island. The views are spectacular the weather is so nice I stayed on it for 4 days. I also rented a boat to go around the island and saw the black ash from the Volcano so is like a black a beach and are at a restaurant that was in a fishing community the boat captain took me to it

Crescent-shaped Santorini (or Thíra), the precious gem of the Aegean, is actually a group of islands consisting of Thíra, Thirassiá, Asproníssi, Palea and Nea Kaméni in the southernmost part of Cyclades. The whole complex of Santorini islands is still an active volcano (the same as Méthana, Mílos and Nísiros) and probably the only volcano in the world whose crater is in the sea. The islands that form Santorini came into existence as a result of intensive volcanic activity; twelve huge eruptions occurred, one every 20,000 years approximately, and each violent eruption caused the collapse of the volcano’s central part creating a large crater (caldera). The volcano, however, managed to recreate itself over and over again. The last big eruption occurred 3,600 years ago, when igneous material (mainly ash, pumice and lava stones) covered the three islands (Thíra, Thirassiá and Asproníssi). The most recent volcanic activity on the island occurred in 1950. The whole island is actually a huge natural geological/volcanological museum where we can observe a wide range of geological structures and forms! Santorini is considered to be the most sought after place for a romantic getaway in Greece. The island has a growing reputation as a “wedding destination” for couples not only from Greece but from all over the world. A trip to Santorini with the other half is a dream for anyone who has seen at least one photo of the island’s famous Caldera and exchanging kisses beneath Santorini’s famous sunset is the ultimate romantic experience!

The most wonderful Greek island. So much beauty, unique sunset and view. Tasty traditional Greek food and kind people. You have to visit Santorini, don’t miss it.

Santorini is a must see for anyone visiting Greece. The view is stunning to say the least. The bluest ocean waters matched only by the beautiful colors of the homes along the cliffside. Each home is so well groomed and taken care. It was a great experience walking along the winding staircases, finding shops tucked between homes and getting lost in the beauty of Santorini. I hope to return again soon!

One of the most beautiful places we have visited. The best time to go is probably during the off-season to avoid crowds.
