Dear parents, I will not recommended This school to new EU family that decided to move to Crete, the worst costumers service, the staff is rude, they speaking with you during they have a cigarette with a sarcasm and criticism! What you read in there website is just to read because in real is not Truth! Sorry but I couldn’t to not tell to the people the experience I had 3 weeks ago!

A great multicultural school, where teachers give their outmost best. Classes are small. Great SEN sensitivity and support.

My daughter is very happy in school, we moved from UK and she studies in English division. There are native speakers English teachers and German and Spanish (she studies two foreign languages). The classes are small so it is easier of course for a child to understand the subject. With recent change of the school headmaster and the improvements it has been going through already just adds extra stars to the review of the school. Will absolutely recommend to anyone who is considering to transfer to this school.

Sending our 2 daughters to this school was one of the best decisions made! Having been to the Greek Dimotiko (Primary), when our daughters moved to the SEEH we immediately felt it was the right place for them. Even if we had a positive experience with the Greek school system, we feel that the European school is the perfect choice for us, and any other international expat family like us. Teaching methods are modern, classes are relatively small (in terms of numbers of students) and a strong emphasis is given on learning foreign languages. The atmosphere is multicultural, open minded and all-embracing.

The school is under new management now and there is tremendous support. Subject options are good, especially when it comes to learning languages with classes for Greek speaking and English speaking children. The staff are extremely friendly and supportive often going the extra mile to make all kids feel inclusive. Communication is fantastic, I recommend this school for any non Greek (expat) families looking for a superior free education for their children in Crete.

I have 3 children currently attending the European School in Heraklion. We have been there for 4 years. English teachers in the primary section are native English speakers which is very important. The level of teaching is excellent and my children are thriving there. Classes are small so all children get an ideal amount of attention. The school has the feeling and atmosphere of a close community, with children, parents and teachers supporting one another. I am very glad my children have the opportunity to attend this school and will continue until graduation.

My son is currently in his last year of the English primary section and this is his second year at this school. We moved to Crete from Athens last year and the decision to move rested entirely upon whether my son would be admitted to the English section of the European School of Heraklion. It was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. There are two things to consider when moving and changing schools. One is what alternatives there are in the area and the other how good a school is objectively and irrespectively of the alternatives. As for the former, there is clearly no alternative as far as I am concerned. As for the latter, the school maintains European standards of education and relies on modern teaching methods rather than using the traditional, parrot fashion style. It recognizes that each child has a different learning style, employs experiential learning activities, and uses high quality textbooks. (If you are not Greek you are probably not aware that these are not things you can take for granted when it comes to the Greek school system). Despite the difficulties that it faces as a Greek state school, the management and staff try their best to maintain high standards and be supportive. Moreover, my son is happier than he has ever been in any school throughout his school career. There is a very positive atmosphere in the classroom, warmth and understanding. We are happy with all the teachers who have ever taught him without exception and particularly pleased with the teachers he sees the most such as, the German teachers, not to mention his main teacher, who is absolutely wonderful. Last but not least, the parents are very nice too. Under the capable leadership of the parents’ association much is achieved. I would wholeheartedly recommend this school to a family moving to Crete.
