B	Bruno Brunakias on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Ο Περικλής του Ξανθίππου ο Χολαργεύς γεννιέται περί το 495 π.Χ. στον δήμο Χολαργού ως γιος του περίφημου αθηναίου στρατηγού Ξανθίππου, θριαμβευτή στη Ναυμαχία της Μυκάλης κατά των Περσών. Η μητέρα του, η Αγαρίστη, ήταν γόνος μιας από τις σημαντικότερες οικογένειες των Αθηνών, των Αλκμεωνιδών, και συγγενής του μεγάλου οραματιστή της δημοκρατίας Κλεισθένη. Λίγο πριν από τη γέννησή του, η Αγαρίστη βλέπει στο όνειρό της ότι δεν φέρνει στον κόσμο παιδί, αλλά λιοντάρι, σαν να της έκλεινε η μοίρα το μάτι δηλαδή. Ο Περικλής, που οδήγησε την Αθήνα στον χρυσό αιώνα της άμεσης δημοκρατίας, των γραμμάτων, των τεχνών και του πολιτισμού, μεταμόρφωσε την πόλη του με τέτοιου κάλλους και σπουδαιότητας έργα που έμελλε να μείνουν αθάνατα. Αυτό που επιδίωξε ουσιαστικά να κάνει ήταν να ανοικοδομήσει τους ναούς και τα ιερά που είχαν καταστραφεί από τους Πέρσες και κυρίως τον Παρθενώνα. Τη διεύθυνση για την κατασκευή των καλλιτεχνημάτων ανέθεσε στον σπουδαίο Φειδία, υπό την επίβλεψη του οποίου χτίστηκε ο Παρθενώνας, σύμφωνα με τον σχεδιασμό των Ικτίνου και Καλλικράτη, ενώ τα Προπύλαια της Ακρόπολης ήταν έργο του Μνησικλή. Πλάι στα επιβλητικότατα λατρευτικά αρχιτεκτονήματα συνυπήρχαν τώρα εντυπωσιακές γλυπτικές δημιουργίες, όπως το περίφημο Χρυσελεφάντινο Άγαλμα της Αθηνάς στον Παρθενώνα (έργο του Φειδία), αλλά και το χάλκινο της Προμάχου Αθηνάς μεταξύ Προπυλαίων και Παρθενώνα, το οποίο ήταν τόσο ψηλό ώστε λεγόταν ότι ήταν ορατό ακόμα και από το Σούνιο Pericles of Xanthippus Cholargeus was born around 495 BC. in the municipality of Holargos as the son of the famous Athenian general Xanthippus, victorious in the Battle of Mykali against the Persians.
