Me and my partner went on a winery tour to this wonderful place and honestly it was fantastic, I've never had such a wonderful host and the food and wine he shared with us was truly amazing. We would love to go back in a heart beat! Please check it out if you get a chance!

Full disclosure - I have family originally from this part of Crete, though I am in no way related to, affiliated with, or compensated by the owner of this property. Pictures do not do justice to this place. It is the masterpiece family home of a perfectionist Cretan wine maker whose family has lived in that village for eight generations. The building is very beautiful, built and then rebuilt and expanded by a master stonemason from Sfakia in the authentic Cretan style. All the little details are just right - from the beautiful real wood furniture, to the antique decorations from the 1800s and before (eg clothes irons, farming equipment, and even bayonets!) that were all found on site during renovation. This place is unique, a labor of love that the host has been working on for most of his adult life and living in since birth. The host (his name is Pantelis) goes out of his way to share the local culture with you, through the food (vegetables from the garden on site, wine from his vineyard next door, cheese from his brother's farm), and through stories, history, and insights into the people and culture of Apokoronas (the region of Crete). It is very peaceful, in an area with few to no other tourists but still only a 15 minute drive from the beaches and restaurants of Georgioupoli, Kalives and Almyrida. My ancestors came from this area and I have visited many times. Over the years I've stayed at hotels in Chania and Georgioupoli and more recently in new-build 'luxury' villas near Almyrida. My stay at this property transformed my most recent visit and put it in a different league than my other trips - the whole experience was just authentic, genuine and unique and I felt much more connected to the place afterwards. Truly a memory I will treasure and hope to revisit on future trips.

I'm glad to see that all the most recent reviews are 5/5. Pantelis and his family go to great lengths to provide a wonderful experience and their hard work deserves just reward. We had a lovely 1 week stay in August, really enjoying our rooms with their private garden and the great hospitality from Pantelis and the family including wonderfully generous breakfasts with savoury pastries, coffee, fruit from the garden, yoghurt etc. The main courtyard and overall place is very well kept and the pool is lovely. The rooms are done in an old farmhouse style with large wooden beams etc. It is a quiet spot looking across the valley and perfect for visiting many local places including Vamos for restaurants, Almirida and Kalyves for seaside restaurants and Koutalas beach for a calmer, more private swimming experience. It would also be perfect for a group to book the 4 sets of rooms and enjoy the place together. Thank you Pantelis, Anastasia and all and we hope to be back.
