★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This is a hidden gem in the heart of Aptera, real close to Chania, if you're in the area you should definitely go here for amazing souvlaki, pork steak (huge and delicious) or whatever your heart desires. We went here many times, the food is to die for! Meet Eleni the best host you'll meet during your stay and enjoy amazing BBQ as well as great Raki and many great other dishes that'll love. You can't miss the place as it's always packed with people.
I highly recommend this place and will come back next year to enjoy everything all over again!
Thanks for the amazing time and food.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Omg! This is the “MUST” Tavern to visit while on Crete. We have tried many recommended taverns while here, but this one is truly outstanding. Great food quality, made of locally produced meat, vegetables or cheese as well as great hospitality from Elina and overall ambience of the place. This tavern for sure is a reason to visit or come back to Crete!

The staff are so attentive and welcoming. We had dishes recommended by the staff that we wouldn’t normally have picked and we weren’t disappointed. We will be back ?

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Worth to be an destination instead of part of journey. Great local vegetables and lamb made by the charming lady. Lamb was very soft, almost leaving the Bone on its own. If you are looking for local made cretean dishes thats the place

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Absolutely love this place! Have been coming here since 2014, when we first discovered Western Crete.
Situated in the small village of Aptera also known as Megala Chorafia, not far from the resorts of Kalami & Kalyves, up a steep, windy road, there you'll find my ideal family run Greek taverna.
You are guaranteed a warm welcome from the ebullient Elina & gorgeous George!
The fantastic Cretan dishes using fresh local ingredients, never fail to please. The stuffed courgette flowers are something you rarely see on other menus, with other specialities like boureki, dolmades & delicious dishes with chicken, lamb & sometimes rabbit cooked with herbs & wine. Great bbq meats too!
There is a good small wine list but we always enjoy the local white wine, served in copper pitchers.
A complimentary dessert of a light, fluffy lemon cake is also served at the end of your meal along with a small glass bottle of raki! I can recommend the thick sweet 'metrio' Greek coffee with sugar too.
It's a pleasure to return here, year after year, to be remembered d always given a warm welcome. Whether you've been before or trying for the first time, you won't be disappointed!
