★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Real cretan people, real cretan language and acommodation. Stay at Sifogiannis and get to know real cretan people food and drinks. Kamilari is still a genuine village in the mountains that hasn‘t changed into a tourist spot.
The taverna and the kafenion and the new bar are woderful places to see parts of real life in Crete.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We popped in here by chance after visiting Matala beach but this place just took our hearts away. We were welcomed by the owner who in a while took us to the kitchen, with the wonderful ladies inside who were busy with cooking, to actually show their suggestions of the day. It was such an easy choice to make when you could actually see the dishes. When tasting them, we really felt that the food was cooked with so much love and dedication, like you would expect for homemade dishes. So if you are around, don't miss a chance to taste the real traditional Cretan cuisine!
