★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We found Taverna Mariou almost by chance on our way back to Rethymno from Skinaria Beach. We were searching for a taverna with a view over the beautiful landscapes of the surroundings, and Taverna Mariou was a perfect fit! Amazing view over the hills and the coast, stunning sunset and delicious food. What else to ask for? I highly recommend the sheep souvlaki. As usual, service was impeccable.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Itan poly oraia! The food was amazing and really authentic, my Greek grandmother would agree ;) the view from the restaurant is breathtaking and the staff was really nice and considerate. Portion sizes are rather on the big side, we had 3 starters and shared one main dish and this was almost too much for 2 people. Also, prices where very reasonable. We went there by car after going to the preveli beach, I can only recommend it!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Wonderful food with an amazing view - very friendly staff and the best Raki we tasted in the 10 days of our trip to Crete. Definitely worth the drive up the hill - especially as it is (at least a little) less touristy than the restaurants near the beach.
