Hidden treasure in the mountains. Every morning waking up gently with bell sounds of goats from the mountains afar. The hotel provides many options as hiking, horse riding, transportation etc. After a day‘s program, take a dip in the swimming pool before enjoying dinner. Many choices of nice Greek food from the menu. Kitchen opens until late which provides convenience to customers. Our suite is two layers suite with fantastic sea and mountain view and a spacious terrace with very cozy mattress. They also have a cute educational garden with different herbs. Staff are very friendly, chefs, waitresses, drivers and cook. Everyone wears a smile and are always ready to help. Recommend! ??

This stunning retreat in a monastery village tucked away in the mountains overlooking the sea, with excellent restaurant, service, rooms, and pool almost felt too good to be true.

If you want to find a place to have a wonderful view, a place to walk around, to ride your motorcycle, to enjoy the wild view of Crete, to enjoy the sea, to ride a horse,to taste Cretan cousine from home made products, enjoy the silence of the nature, and be served by estonishing people, visit Thalori. An abandoned village that keeps all the traditional elements on top of nowhere.

Where to begin? First my review will be an answer @Andrew Harley -which seems sincere but not entirely accurate according to me, and @ some others in the same time as my true and sincere opinion. Then, if you travel for night life, museums, shopping, it is probably not the right place but google map could tell it to you. If you seek for nature, biking, walking, running, trekking, riding a horse, canyoning, swimming(the beach is accessible only through a dirty track which requieres a 4x4, or through different amazing and hard walks, but for a very affordable price, the hotel provides "offroads trips"), all that in a fantastic isolation, in the most astonishing landscapes which are reserved for those who pay a tribute to the mother Earth, this place will be your ultimate Paradise, combined with all the comfort of very cosy old country style stones homes, some with incredible views on wild and beautiful mountains/sea. In my case the fire place was nicely prepared for a big warm fire with one match used to start it, and was prepared again on demand ( I am not good at firering) with no fees and anyway the wood and a smart mix of tissue and wax was furnished in sufficient amount every day, plus the heaters were working more than well and the house was too hot the first night so I didn't used them again(april). The swimmingpool is probably 20m long and with the same astonishing view as the restaurant's terrasse. Wines were very good, as well as the meat and the salads. It is true that the restaurant is a bit more expensive than in cities but that's the price to pay to have all the comfort in a wild and stunning environement and: raki(grappa) and large deserts were offered at the end of EVERY meal and about 75dl of rakki in our room. Not pushy to sell all the activities that they propose (horse ridding/off roads trips/boat trips/trekking...), they provide free maps and info to those who ask for. After years in Crete 2 months a year, I can say this is an absolute must even for 2-3 nights to see the natural and momumental side of Crete. Astonishing experience!

A place for voyageurs not for tourists! If you are looking for a warm, quiet, invigorating place to recharge, enjoy nature and explore Crete with all your senses this is the place to visit. Thank you for your hospitality, lifetime experience! We will be back!
