★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The Secret Garden is a gem, an absolute gem of a restaurant. You can see just by looking at it how different it is from everything else in the area.
They make great cocktails, the food is stellar and in massive portions and the care the staff show made us feel treasured on both of our visits.
Does get busy, especially if you go later in the evening ( almost any day of the week ), so you might want to make reservations.
And do me a favour and feed the cats a couple of scraps, they’re cute and they will give you love in return.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A charming little restaurant, perfect to spend an afternoon and evening with friends. The food is delicious, the staff more than friendly and attentive and the owner extraordinarily charming. The mostly open air dining area has been crafted originally and with attention to detail, including personal hygiene articles in the restrooms.
Do try the pizza fresh from the wood-fired oven and make sure to leave some space for the pavlova as dessert!
We will definitely come back, the next time we are on Crete!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We ate here twice. It is the best restaurant in the area of Matala and suburbs! Nice variety of starters, salads, pasta, pizza and main courses with meat and one or two veggie options. Not the usual Cretan taverna or restaurant. Nice environment, true magical combination of ingredients results in a sensational dinner. Pizza is the real Italian thing, you should try it! The meat main courses are absolutely wonderful in terms of taste! The prices are very reasonable for the quality you get on your table. The only flaw is the service. When the place is overfilled, the personnel is getting confused easily. It seems that the coordination of the tasks for each person is not so well assigned. I would give an 85% out of 100, just for the service that needs improvement. All in all it is a definitely recommended option!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Absolutely satisfying... The food, the decorations, the location. Tasty and with good quality. A great combination of traditional taste blended with some modern alterations. Very logical prices considering the portions and quality. Friendly staff, dishes came fastly. Honestly nothing negative to say about this place. Definitely a must visit.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Really great Restaurant 5 min by car outside of Matala. Food is a mix of modern cuisine with traditional greek and creetan influence. We would recomend it to everyone who wants to eat beyond the too often same tourist menus found in the city centers.
