★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This Shelter has a heart! The people working there and the volunteers supporting the project are pasionate people, devoted to saving any dog in need that comes across their path.
Elisabeth Eliakis really saved the day when on the 15th of September 2021 a friend of mine and I bumped on 7 puppies, barely 2 days old, in a remote country road at a Chania village. Next day I was travelling back to Switzerland with my dog and it was impossible for the puppies to come with me. Athough at the time Elisabeth was working training a dog, the minute she got the news she did everything in her powers to find a Foster mum to take the puppies in. Time was crucial, the puppies needed to be fed every 3 hours and she did it! She found a wonderful Foster mum who spent many sleepless nights with the puppies feeding and pampering them.
I will always be grateful to you Elisabeth! Seeing those puppies getting out of danger is one of the most rewarding feelings ever ??. We need to create support chains for such efforts, please donate to the shelter they are so worth it!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I have traveled around Europe and worked in various dog shelters in recent years. The Souda Shelter is a great operation and 100% empathetic and loving towards its animals. It used to be in a bad shape but with new management it has turned around completely. The work that super heroes Elizabeth, Litsa, Niko and all the volunteers do there is simply amazing and it reminds me that the world can be a kind place.

I have visited many shelters in the world but this has by far been the best I have seen because of the love and effort for the dogs. The owner of the shelter is super nice and truly loves her dogs. It makes me happy to see shelters like that and I would recommend everyone who spends some time in Crete to visit the shelter and volunteer. The dogs are so grateful for the attention. A happy place!!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Lovely place to visit with family. Staff was very friendly and showed us all the dogs they have. Highly recommend if you want to adopt or just give some ear scratching. Book in advance for free tour and don’t forget to bring some doggy treats.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Having very recently spent 2 weeks volunteering at the shelter I can honestly say the animals welfare is paramount there. The staff are wonderful with the animals and are welcoming to guests. The life of a stray in Crete is very poor but these guys manage to change the situation around leading to happy animals. If I could have stayed longer I would have. So well done to all.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We visited the shelter in August 2021 and were impressed and touched how committed Elizabeth and her team are towards the poor rescue dogs! Communication with Elizabeth was easy, she responded quickly and was super flexible about our visit. A team member showed us around and we were able to say hi to most of the dogs and pet them. According to Elizabeth’s team, any kind of help is welcome. You can even join for 1-2 weeks during vacation. Keep up the good work, thank you Elizabeth and team for your big heart for these animals!

The shelter is in a good stage and we were glad they showed and explained us their work. We were positively surprised how good the dogs look.
