★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Considering that it's on the outskirts of a metropolis, the water is more than fine. I would choose this place for a walk rather than for a swim. There's a small beach that gets easily packed. Nice neighborhood though

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Varkiza harbour provides an excellent place for either walking, family promenades, enjoying the sea or cafes, ice cream shops & restaurants located along it. Romantic couples will love it as it offers magical views during summertime nights. There is also a playground for families with children. Occasionally, there are many events organised here like music & religious festivals & theatrical plays which are in harmony with the natural landscape and further display the mediterranean character of the place.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A nice scenic spot where you can also visit the fish market ... and buy fresh fish directly from the fishermen themselves. There are normally also a few persons also selling seasonal veggies ... but I've never bought from them so I cant comment!
Parking is often difficult and some of the sidewalks and pedestrian areas need up keeping and thus I'm only giving the spot 3 stars! ?
A short walk from the harbour there are a few cafes/ restaurants. Personally I like the Esplanade ... that has a direct view to the sea and the green area. ??
