We rented a scooter on May 26 in pitiful condition which got hot restarted with great difficulty seeing ABS on the price announced on the site €25 we paid €30 per day, a shame given the condition of the scooter we reported the problem to the restitution they obviously have nothing to do with it…… They enjoy being the only ones in Oia!!

Got a Citroen C1 automatic for €55 without insurance. It was in good condition and was extremely useful driving around Santorini exploring the different corners of the island. Friendly and helpful staff with a 24*7 call center and an option to drop off the car at the port or airport for an extra tenner.

We enjoyed using an ATV to get to places on the island that interested us. The gentleman who we signed the rental papers from was kind. An ATV is easy to use. You do drive on the main roads and have to mind traffic and signs like the cars. To get to Black and Red Beaches, you get to use the ATV as intended:-) “off road”. We rented a 150 ATV which was the least expensive of the choices. It’s a narrow base and a lighter weight. Wouldn’t recommend. On curving roads, you can feel the narrow wheel base is not as stable and that’s at medium speed. We ran into several problems. 1) the speedometer gauge wasn’t working - jumping numbers- so we didn’t really know what speed we were going on the main road with cars. 2) the fuel gauge read 3 out of 5 bars. The rental guy said it was plenty to get to lighthouse on the other end of the island- it was NOT enough- we literally ran out of gas sooner than we should have and yes the digital gauge was fluctuating that amount as well. The gauge was already down to 2 bars when we got to Fira/Thira and it shouldn’t have been as our route was direct but he again reassured us it was plenty. 3) the ATV stalled out in Fira when we pulled over to check directions. It didn’t start back up right away. We called the company and the guy was surprised but said we should be okay and to simply retry starting the ATV again. 4) When we unexpectedly ran out of gas- one solid bar to no bar, we called the company. It was sunset and we had just left the lighthouse which is in a remote part of the island. The person working the evening shift told us it was our fault we ran out of gas and that we had to get a taxi to a gas station. My new phone wasn’t making calls, even to my spouse. My daughters international number made the call but her battery was low. Anyway, the guy said he would maybe come help us in 2 hrs. 5) Pray to the gods! After we hung up from the non helpful, accusing guy, I started praying that the ATV would restart and have just enough gas to get us to the gas station. 6) miracles do happen. Helpful tips: Always use a helmet and with far shield. Bring a jacket because it can be very windy and bring water because as you head towards lighthouse less food and drink is available. There is a gas station about 20 minutes from lighthouse. Refuel there. Very kind and helpful. Test ATV in parking lot before you officially start off- make sure you are given 5 bars of gas. Make sure gauges work accurately. Rent from another company or expect and demand full tank and working gauge.

Booked a transfer from Oia to the airport for 35euros. Very friendly staff though they couldn't provide the driver contact / vehicle details till the actual pick up day which was abit worrisome but all was good. Driver came on time in a nice sleek Mercedes, was helpful with the luggage and it was a comfortable smooth drive to the airport. Goodbye Santorini. ?
