The church of Panagia tis Faneromeni is very beautiful. Both inside and outside. It is very close to the church of Agios Dionysios.

Very beautiful and special. Hagiographies with bright colors and renaissance character. Worth a visit.

Στη νότια πλευρά της πόλης της Ζακύνθου, στη συνοικία του Άμμου, βρίσκεται ο μεγαλοπρεπής ιερός ναός της Παναγίας Φανερωμένης, ο πιο εντυπωσιακός και όμορφος από τους ναούς της πόλης, χαρακτηριστικό δείγμα υψηλής καλλιτεχνικής δημιουργίας με έντονες επιδράσεις της αναγεννησιακής τέχνης.
Με το μεγάλο σεισμό του 1953 η εκκλησία καταστράφηκε ολοσχερώς. Μόνο το κωδωνοστάσιο έμεινε αλώβητο.
Ανοικοδομήθηκε με τα ίδια υλικά και αποκαταστάθηκε στην παλαιά της μορφή.

On the southern side of the city of Zakynthos, in the Ammos district, is the magnificent holy temple of Panagia Faneromeni, the most impressive and handsome of the city temples, a typical example of high artistic creation with strong influences of Renaissance art.
With the great earthquake of 1953 the church was completely destroyed. Only the bell tower was intact.
It was rebuilt with the same materials and restored in its old form.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Σαν ακριβή κοσμηματοθήκη. Δύσκολο να πιστέψεις ότι μετά την ισοπέδωση από το σεισμό του 53, τελικά όχι μόνο αναστηλώθηκε υποδειγματικά αλλά έγινε η πιο όμορφη εκκλησία της Ζακύνθου. Καταπληκτικός ο εσωτερικός διάκοσμος σε αναγεννησιακό στυλ, κατά τον τύπο της Επτανησιακής σχολής αγιογραφίας. Είχα τη μεγάλη χαρά να συναντήσω τον σπουδαίο ζωγράφο Γιάννη Τσολάκο ο οποίος με τεράστια επιμονή και κόπο παρέδωσε στο νησί μια σπουδαία καλλιτεχνική παρακαταθήκη. Η μια ώρα που πέρασε δίχως να το καταλάβω μιλώντας μαζί του, ήταν το απόλυτο highlight του ταξιδιού μου
Like an expensive jewelry box. It is hard to believe that after the leveling by the earthquake of 53, it finally not only was restored exemplary but became the most beautiful church of Zakynthos. The interior decoration in Renaissance style is amazing, according to the type of the Ionian School of Hagiography. I had the great pleasure to meet the great painter Giannis Tsolakos who with great perseverance and effort delivered to the island a great artistic legacy. The hour that passed without me realizing it talking to him, was the ultimate highlight of my trip
