We visited Athens for a short stop on our way to the islands. We received a recommendation to stop at Wine Bar 33 and we decided to go. We couldn’t have been happier. We paid for the wine tasting and in doing so we received a wonderful experience we won’t forget. We received a sit down wine tour of the finer wines of Greece. We had originally planned to sit and have a several glasses of wine and be on our way but instead we stayed for 3 hours learning all about, and trying, all the wines of the region. I can’t rave enough about Dimitri. He was not only very knowledgeable but unbelievably kind and enjoyable to talk to. I would recommend anyone who enjoys wine to stop by Wine Bar 33 and partake in the experience you will receive there. Thank you Dimitri.

My husband and I went here during our honeymoon for a wine tasting and it exceeded our expectation! Dimitri was so knowledgeable about wine and took the time to explain/teach us all about each of the wines we tried. The entire experience was so great. We stayed for over 3 hours because we were enjoying are time there so much and we bought some wine to take home! HIGHLY RECOMMEND during your time in Athens!

Dimitri was the perfect host, his knowledge of the wines and grapes of Greece (and the rest of the world) was exceptional. He made us feel welcome all evening and was incredibly passionate and attentive. Dimitri adapted the tasting sessions to out taste and spent time describing the reasons behind the flavourings of each wine. Should we find ourselves in Athens again, we will be returning to Wine Bar 33. Big thanks from Sam and Olivia.

A great little find near our hotel in Plaka. Hard to find via Google - the entrance is on the side street next to the location the map shows - this little wine bar does everything I wanted in Athens. The owner runs the place, and as expected has an enormous wealth of wine knowledge of the region to go with his immense enthusiasm and obvious joy. Focused on smaller producers, he guided us to a range of Xinomavro wines - funkier, drier, and more interesting than we could imagine - as we sampled white, rose and red wines made from the same grapes. The food plates were delightful as well. The tomato fritters were incredible, and easily the best of the several we tried in Greece. Various other treats were brought tableside to complement our many wines. If we had questions, he engaged us with commentary or ran downstairs to bring a bottle that illustrated his point for our edification. On top of all this, the whole list of carefully-chosen wines is so inexpensive! If you are at all interested in the world of Greek wines, this is a must-visit.

We walked in off the street because we wanted to try some Greek wine. We expected to show up, get a couple of glasses served and then be on our way. We were so wrong! We were welcomed by Dimitri who first gave us an introduction to the Greek wine production in the different areas of Greece and then he talked us through a series of absolutely amazing wines from small local wineries with some wines we'd never have thought even existed! He even told us about the local grapes and wineries in the parts of Greece we're planning to go to. The Wine Bar 33 is a relatively new place, but let me say, it's absolutely worth a visit. Whether or not you know anything about wine, Dimitri's hospitality and extensive knowledge makes this a place anybody should visit for a nice glass of wine. If we ever have the chance, we're definitely coming back!

Best wine tasting experience I've ever had! Dimitri is a gracious and knowledgeable sommelier, who is eager to share the wonders and mysteries of Greek vines and wine-making techniques. Did you know that wine can be made not only in oak or steel, but also stone? Or that some new vintners are exploring with saffron infused wines? I didn't! Not only that, but Dimitri really listened to what sort of flavors and type of wines I preferred, and adjusted the tasting accordingly. He would dart down to his cellar and come up with something incredible. At 20€ this is an unparalleled deal, in the heart of Athens.

Absolutely amazing wine experience! I met Dimitri and his friend Panayotis and they gave me a warm welcome and a complete course on Greek wines. It a great pleasure to talk to Dimitri, furthermore he is an excellent sommelier and he knows his wines! We should truly appreciate the fact he is ready to give his knowledge to laymen audience and he is committed to spreading the knowledge about the peculiar Green wines to the world. If you want to know more about Greek wine this is the place to be in Athens.

On my recent trip to Greece I had the wonderful opportunity to join a wine tasting at Wine Bar 33 in Athens. The owner, Dimitri Spiropoulos, hosted the tasting and shared his extensive knowledge of Greek wines, along with a map to show us the different regions where the grapes were grown and wines produced. The wines were delicious and I learned an enormous amount - not only about Greek wines, but about Greek culture. Dimitri is passionate about wine and speaks perfect English. My wine tasting evening at Wine Bar 33 was a highlight of my trip. Thank you Dimitri!
