Во-первых, именно его корабли в 1799 г. освободили остров от французской оккупации, во-вторых, адмирал сумел восстановить православный епископат, так как церкви не было здесь примерно 500 лет. В-третьих, он помог создать на Ионических островах первое в истории после заката Византии греческое государство. Также отметим, что на счету адмирала нет ни единого поражения и ни единого потерянного корабля. Очень волнующие чувства охватывают рядом с этим памятником нашему героическому соотечественнику! А на открытии памятника владыка Версанофий архиепископ Мордовский и Саранский отслужил торжественный молебен. За день много не обойти, но осматривать лучше начинать от форта и по парку и через старый город по музеям и другим достопримечательностям полезно. Посетите и этот памятник Ушакову.... Тут краской такую память не замажут.... тут чтут подвиги и помощь грекам ! August 2018, again in Greece by car. Kerkyra .....
