Η εκκλησία αυτή βρίσκεται λίγο πιο κάτω από την πλατεία του Κάστρου του Οιτύλου, επάνω στον δημόσιο δρόμο, ακριβώς από κάτω από την συνοικία των Λαβουρεντιάνων και είναι η οικογενειακή τους εκκλησία. Είναι ένας μονοκάμαρος ναός σκεπασμένος με κεραμίδια, με μία είσοδο χωρίς παράθυρα. Το ιερό έχει την ωραία πύλη και άλλη μία πόρτα στο βορινό τμήμα του τέμπλου. Παλαιότερα ήταν αγιογραφημένος, σήμερα μόνο στο ιερό σώζεται ένα τμήμα και μισοσβησμένα ονόματα καλόγερων και ανακαινιστών στην πρόθεση με την Αποκαθήλωση. ΑΓΙΟΓΡΑΦΙΕΣ ΙΕΡΟΥ Στο κλίτος της Αγίας Τράπεζας υπάρχει η αγιογραφία της Παναγίας «Η Πλατυτέρα των Ουρανών». Από κάτω ο Μυστικός Δείπνος στην μέση ο Χριστός και αριστερά του ο Ιωάννης, μετά ο Μάρκος, ο Σίμων, του επόμενου έχει σβηστεί το όνομα, μετά ο Θωμάς και ο άλλος επίσης σβησμένος. Στα δεξιά του Χριστού είναι όλες οι αγιογραφίες περισσότερο κατεστραμμένες. Στην πρόθεση αριστερά της Αγίας Τράπεζας είναι ασβεστωμένη, στην δεξιά υπάρχει η Αποκαθήλωση, έχει και μία μικρότερη πρόθεση στον βορινό τοίχο. Στο ιερό στον νότιο τοίχο έχει και δύο ντουλάπια, μπορεί να ήσαν παραθυράκια παλαιότερα. Η δίπτυχη επιγραφή στην Αποκαθήλωση: 1. ……..ΗΙ…………... ΗΙΥΟΥΧΗ 2. … (Ιερομον)αχου… καλαπόθου συνμ 3. …………………….. βύα και τέκνα αυτ… 4. ………………..…… ιωάννου συμβήα κ… 5. ……………τυ…….. κνα 6. ……………έκν…… δημητρίου συνμβύας και τ… 7. …………………….. ασυμηνα και τέκνα αυτ…. 8. …………………….. πανα..ότι συνμβύα και 9. …………………….. τέκνα. Και πέντε γραμμές κενές. Οι δύο επιγραφές είναι ζωγραφισμένες σε αψιδωτό σχέδιο με κολωνίτσες, όπως άλλωστε σε όλες τις εκκλησίες του Οιτύλου. Η αριστερή είναι όλη σχεδόν κατεστραμμένη. Στην κόγχη του ιερού που είναι η Αγία Τράπεζα, έχει εντοιχιστεί για τράπεζα, ένα αρχαίο μάρμαρο, το αναφέρει και η Άννα Αβραμέα(1), προφανώς από τον πρώτο επισκοπικό ναό του Σωτήρα, ως ευλογία. Για πολλά χρόνια έμενε ερειπωμένη και αλειτούργητη, όμως ο Νίκος Στρατηγέας την επισκεύασε και της έβαλε ένα σταυρό στην σκεπή από την Παναγία, καθώς επίσης και τρεις μεγάλες ξύλινες εικόνες στο εσωτερικό, του Χριστού, της Παναγίας και του Ιωάννη Πρόδρομου από τις εικόνες της Παναγίας που ήσαν στο τέμπλο, γιατί ο παπάς Σωτήρης Χριστοφιλέας που την ανακαίνιζε έβαλε καινούργιες. Ο γιος του Νίκου, ο Σπυρίδος της έβαλε πλακάκια, την έξυσε εξωτερικά και φάνηκαν οι πέτρες γύρω στα 1995, και την γιορτάζει κανονικά στην χάρη της με αρτοπλασία, μόνος απ’ όλους τους Λαβουρεντιάνους. Στο σπηλιακάκι που ο Μήτσος Βουνισέας (ο Μόρσος) έκανε βόθρο στο τέλος της δεκαετίας του 50, βρήκαν χριστιανικό τάφο με οστά(2). Οι Λαβουρεντιάνοι παλαιότερα θαβόντουσαν εκεί, καθώς και οι καλόγεροί τους, όταν μεγάλωσε η εκκλησία της Παναγίας, θα συνεισέφεραν και έτσι από τότε θαβόντουσαν εκεί. Η εκκλησία του Αγίου Σώζοντος κτίσθηκε ακριβώς έξω από τα τείχη του Οιτύλου και δίπλα από την είσοδο του μεγαλύτερου πύργου του, γιατί σε κάποια μάχη στα Βυζαντινά χρόνια, σώθηκε το κάστρο από τους επιτιθέμενους εχθρούς. Από το 1400 που ήρθαν οι υπερασπιστές του κάστρου Λαβουρεντιάνοι τους δόθηκε για οικογενειακή τους εκκλησία.
