It only gets 3 stars for the day of my visit, as the water is not as clear as many other beaches in Crete. However, you can easily approach by car, there's a road that ends up in a few taverns that provide their own space for parking. Please note there are 2 areas for sitting on the beach. The left side of a river where it seemed that there are not a lot of taverns/bars etc and the right side where there are stores with free sunbeds (most of them except the last one I think). We went to the right side. Good prices on coffees & beers. P.S. You might need beach shoes to enter the water if you have sensitive feet.

Very crowdy, full of loud people. Very dirty sand, it looks like dust everywhere. The sea is not clear. The only good thing is that it is free. That's it

One of my favourite beaches. Sheltered and not too busy, great beachfront restaurant's, with a variety of cuisine. Some stones close to the beach but past those is sand where you can walk out quite far. Will be back there soon.

I wouldn't say this beach is the best in Crete, but I had come to Agia Galini for some peace and quiet after Lockdown restrictions, and hence, was grateful for a quiet beach with warm and calm waters. The sun lounges were free to use, as long as you order a drink (or 2) from the vendors who set up the seats. I used the ones at Kostas taverna (the the far end of the beach) as I wanted to be away from the crowd. i did not feel pressurised to order drinks from them, but I did, and fell in love with their homemade Lemonade!! I enjoyed my time on the beach, as it was only a short walk away from my hotel. Complete rest and relaxation for me, for sure!!

The scenery is beautiful at the small fishing port . friendly people nice coffee shops. The best time to be there is when not so busy , beginning or end of summer.the beach is sandy with alot ombrellas and sun chairs. The place has very nice energy. An ancient city and harbor was located here even from Minoan civilization times.

I've been to Crete a dozen of times bur somehow missed Agia Galini beach. Today I finally reached it and it was rather a disappointment. First, it is not "fine sand". I mean, in the sunbed areas there is fine sand (mixed with some pebbles) but at the entrance to the sea there is very coarse sand and sharp rocks. Not like rounded pebbles but more like fine gravel. Its hurting feet, and I barely could get into the sea once, using the western corner of the beach. Besides, the beach is neighbouring the harbor, maybe this is is the reason why the water is somewhat muddy. At least not what one would expect from the South Coast of Crete. On the other hand, the beach services are numerous and the food there is good and not expensive. Sunbeds are offered for the customers. There is an appliance for the people with limited capability.
