★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Excelent experience and an absolute must when it comes to understanding Crete and its history. Only down side was that the cafeteria wasn't open yet due to being a new building. So if you are hoping for a coffee and a glass of water, go across the street before entering!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ It has been a long time coming but is well worth the wait. This new museum allows previously exhibited artefacts more space and light - and others which have not been seen publicly before are a joy to see and to reflect upon. Interpretive videos add immensely to visitors’ understanding of the context of the exhibits. This is a very special place.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ It's a very modern building with some great history of Crete. It has some fragments of the Minoan settlement as well as many other artefacts. It us not clear on arrival that there is ample parking on site so most people end up parking on the road outside. They should make that clearer.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I was really impressed with the museum. The design and architecture is stunning. It certainly makes a statement. The displays were well organised and well lit with clear information given in Greek and English. There is plenty to see and a good effort had been made to give the geographical context and evolution of civilisation in Greece. The large screen in the foyer shows some fantastic drone footage of sites across Crete. I could have watched that all day!! Please put this on an app so people can take time looking at it. Surely this would be a good educational resource as well! My only other suggestion,
a few more seats dotted around the rooms.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Very interesting exhibition, well structured and presented. Nice piece of Minoan palace and interesting excavation “showrooms”. The inner area is spacious and might fit even more items into it, so I wish there would be more in future. The only tricky part is the entrance - museum is rounded by a fence, so approach it from Skra street.
It would be nice to add more seats in museum halls, there are too few of them.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This is the new Archaeological Museum in Chania; it has only just opened a month or so ago. It can be reached with the No. 11 city bus or one can walk to it but it sits rather uphill and to the east of central Chania. The new building is spacious and well lit, and the numerous displays are well organized, well lit and labeled. The cafe had yet to open during our visit and there are no cafes close by, so best to go prepared. The museum shop is very small considering the collection size.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Nice museum for a cloudy day which is when we went. 6€ for an adult ticket, no need to buy in advance. Interesting permanent exhibit about the history of chania going back to prehistoric times. The temporary exhibit of “bath time” was mediocre and didn’t really interest me that much. The hallways are quite empty and the cafeteria was closed.
