Completely abandoned the archaeological site with the consistency of local authorities. Unfortunately!

Unfortunately no excavation has been done and there are few places where one can see the foundation of the ancient wall. A disappointment for the philanthropic visitor ....

Such an important archeological site left to its fate without any use. In ancient times Plataea was a small town but stood on the front line, opposite the Persians. The archeological site is located at the foot of Kithairon. There are fortifications, of different periods and few remnants of prehistoric walls.

Freely accessible, but first search for some info before going there!

An historical place, legendary battlefield but there is no sign or marker of the famous clash on 479 b.c. Pity because a marker should sign, but I just met a shepherd with sheep

The place where a very important battle against the Persian army took place

In the fields below, the Greek allies kicked out the Persian army and ending Persian occupation of the northern Greek cities. There is nothing here except ruins, no plaques and no information. The only hint is this Google marker. So much potential wasted. The field of battle is down to the right between two small rivers that run off the main river toward the mountain side. The filed of battle is now crop fields and you can not go there.
