★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Η Υρμίνη ή Ύρμινα ή Όρμινα ήταν πόλισμα της αρχαίας Ηλείας.
Ιδρύθηκε από Πελασγούς πρωτοέλληνες. Ήταν πόλη των Επειών. Βρισκόταν δίπλα στο ακρωτήριο της Κυλλήνης και κοντά σε αυτό του Αράξου, στα αρχαία σύνορα Αχαΐας και Ηλείας. Οικιστής της ήταν ο Άκτορας, γιος του Φόρβαντα, εγγονός του Λαπίθη και αδελφός του ήταν ο βασιλιάς Αυγείας.
Η πόλη ονομάστηκε έτσι προς τιμήν της μητέρας του Υρμίνης, η οποία ήταν κόρη του Επειού. Η Υρμίνη συμμετείχε στον Τρωικό πόλεμο υπό την αρχηγία του βασιλιά Αμαρυγκείδη μαζί με τους άλλους Επειούς[1][2][3].
Η θέση της αρχαία πόλης έχει βρεθεί κοντά στο σημερινό Κουνουπέλι και στον Δήμο Βουπρασίας, 9 χιλιόμετρα από την Βάρδα. Στην θέση υπάρχουν κατάλοιπα ενετικών κτισμάτων και κάστρου, και κατάλοιπα του πελασγικού τείχους.
Irmine or Irmina or Ormina was a civilization of ancient Ilia.
It was founded by Pelasgians of early Hellenes. It was a city of the Ephesians. It was next to the cape of Kyllini and close to that of Araxos, on the ancient border of Achaia and Ilia. Its inhabitant was Actor, son of Forvanta, grandson of Lapith, and his brother was King Aegean.
The city was thus named in honor of Hermine's mother, who was a daughter of the Epeian. Irmine participated in the Trojan war under the leadership of King Amaryngides along with the other Ephesians [1] [2] [3].
The site of the ancient city has been found near the present-day Kounoupeli and the Municipality of Buprasia, 9 kilometers from Varda. The site contains remains of Venetian buildings and a castle, and remains of the Pelasgian wall.
