★ ★ ★ ★ ★ It's a fort, you get to walk around, have a nice view and maybe enjoy a drink or snack.
I feel this place has a bit more potential as a sightseeing location though.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Visited Castle September 2020. City streets are narrow and winding. Parked car and walked up. Stopped at old mosque's Halil Bey. The castle was a little further up hill. The climb wad gradually not tough. Past many nice homes. BUT the castle was amazing. Very clean all the way. Castle walls surrounding in excellent condition. Went inside the tower 21 step to first landing then 13 steps to next 17 to top. Floors all clean. Great views. Lots of space inside. Arsenal building 35 long x 20 wide. Great shape it was empty. Another building not open. Then the outside theatre with lots of seating. Amazing view overlooking town. Steps up to walk the wall around castle. Beautiful. Friendly staff. Only 2.5 Euro more than worth the fee.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ If you are in Kavala you have to visit this ancient tower.It is worth seeing.From the top the view is increadible.You can see Kavala with 360 °panoramic view.Until you get there you pass through the old town with its narrow streets and charming architecture.The entrance fee is 4.50 EUR for adults.If you are by car park it at the car park on the port.
