★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Ονομαζόταν Ιερός Ναός του Αγίου Γεωργίου του Παλαιοκαστρίτου στο Βυζάντιο. Εδώ έγινε η στέψη του αυτοκράτορα Ιωάννη ΣΤ΄ Καντακουζηνού το 1341. Το 1735 αναγείρθηκε ο Αρμένικος Ναός Αγίου Γεωργίου, ο Σουρπ Κεβόρκ. Ήταν κλειστός δυστυχώς όταν πήγα, είναι πάντα κλειστός μάλλον, δεν το γνωρίζω αυτό. Έχει πολύ μεγάλη ιστορική αξία πάντως.
 It was called the Holy Temple of Agios Georgios of Paleokastritos in Byzantium. Here was the coronation of the emperor John VI of Kantakouzinos in 1341. In 1735 the Armenian Church of St. George was erected, Surp Kevork. It was closed unfortunately when I went, it's always closed probably, I don't know that. It has great historical value, however.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Ο ναός βρίσκεται στο βορειοδυτικό άκρο του οχυρωμένου λόφου, στην περιοχή που είχε κρατήσει το όνομα «Παληό». Ιδιότυπος ναός που από τις αρχές του 19ου αιώνα παραχωρείται στους Αρμενίους, ενώ παλαιότερα υπήρχε ο βυζαντινός ναός του Αγίου Γεωργίου του Παλαιοκαστρίτη ¨Στις 26 Οκτωβρίου του 1341 στέφθηκε στο Διδυμότειχο συναυτοκράτορας των Ρωμαίων ο Ιωάννης Στ΄ Καντακουζηνός. Η στέψη δεν έγινε στο ναό του Αγίου Γεωργίου Παλαιοκαστρίτου αλλά στα ανάκτορα του κάστρου όπου και διέμενε με την οικογένειά του. Στο ναό του αγίου Γεωργίου πήγε μετά τη στέψη για να προσευχηθεί και να λάβει την ευχή του μητροπολίτη Ιλαρίωνα.
The temple is located at the northwestern end of the fortified hill, in the area that had kept the name "Old". A peculiar church that has been granted to the Armenians since the beginning of the 19th century, while previously there was the Byzantine church of Agios Georgios of Paleokastritis τιOn October 26, 1341, Ioannis St. The coronation did not take place in the church of Agios Georgios Paleokastritos but in the palace of the castle where he lived with his family. He went to the church of St. George after the coronation to pray and receive the wish of Metropolitan Hilarion.
