What makes it special are the people in charge with the bar, especially Manolis...always with a smile, good humour, a pleasantness that only comes from the heart and good nature. Can't wait to come back!

But most important, Manolis, your host, has the gift of making you feel immediately at home. He represents genuine Cretan hospitality.
Enjoy an outing at Avra. We have been coming for years with family and friends. There is no better place in this area than Avra.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Nice and friendly snack bar located next to the beach. Simple but tasty food. Relaxed and friendly atmosphere is mostly because of the staff and ecpesially Manos. He always jokes with his guests in a nice way. No wonder guests love to come back every day during their stay.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We have been coming to this traditional café for many years. The variety and quality of the cooking, whether a traditional Greek dish, a tasty snack, or even an English breakfast, are always delicious and the servings are very generous..
Manolis, the host, is Avra's Star. There is no better representative of genuine Cretan hospitality. His personality and sense of humor make everyone feel truly welcome.
Across from the Astir Beach, Avra is THE place for a drink or a meal in Kato Gouves. Enjoy the seaview and the wonderful simplicity of being in this café.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Went here a few times, food was really good and the cocktails were great. Could get takeaway cocktails here for the beach - caipirinhas and strawberry daiquiris ?.
Staff were really friendly, we couldn’t get a taxi one day so they phoned one for us and gave us a table while it arrived

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Avra Snack Bar is next to the beach overlooking the sea. Good variety of food - something for every taste. We were able to have takeaway and to enjoy our lunches right on the beach. Lactose and gluten free options available on demand - thank you for that!
And of course - Manos is the star of the place. He makes you feel at home and welcomed. Genuine Crete hospitality.
We visited the place almost daily during our stay and we would return without a doubt!
