Το οχυρό, έχει κτιστεί σε στρατηγική θέση, πάνω στον μοναδικό δρόμο που ένωνε την Αργολίδα με την Λακωνία και την παραλιακή με την κεντρική Κυνουρία. Κατά τα χρόνια της Τουρκοκρατίας, το όνομα Estella ξεχάστηκε και ο λαός το συνέδεσε με τον διαδεδομένο μύθο της Ωριάς ή Ωραίας αρχόντισσας. Σύμφωνα με την κυνουριακή παραλλαγή του μύθου, το κάστρο ανήκε σε μια ωραία αρχόντισσα, καταλήφθηκε όμως από τους Τούρκους, μετά από 12 χρόνια πολιορκίας, από δόλο. Τότε η αρχόντισσα αυτοκτόνησε ή κατ' άλλους ρίχτηκε στα βράχια από τον πατέρα της. Μετά τις επιτυχίες του Ανδρόνικου Ασάν το 1320, το κάστρο αποτέλεσε την ενδοχώρα του Δεσποτάτου του Μυστρά. Το 1407, το κάστρο καταλήφθηκε από τους Ενετούς του Ναυπλίου. Παρόλα αυτά, το 1423, βρισκόταν στα χέρια των Μελισσηνών, ενώ στον κατάλογο του Magno καταχωρήθηκε το 1463. Τέλος, το 1467, καταλήφθηκε από τους Τούρκους. The fort has been built in a strategic position, on the only road that connected Argolida with Laconia and the coastal road with central Kynouria. During the years of Ottoman rule, the name Estella was forgotten and the people associated it with the widespread myth of the Hour or Beautiful Lady. According to the Kynourian version of the legend, the castle belonged to a beautiful noblewoman, but was occupied by the Turks, after 12 years of siege, by deceit. Then the noblewoman committed suicide or, according to others, was thrown to the rocks by her father. After the successes of Andronikos Assan in 1320, the castle became the hinterland of the Despotate of Mystras. In 1407, the castle was occupied by the Venetians of Nafplio. Wonderful view that rewards you with a tangible difficult climb. Disadvantage, lack of signage, difficult path and information about the castle.
