★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Just delicious! Everything is very tasty and Charlie runs everything himself (really home-made food). Very good quality and very cheap, nice atmosphere, the service is a bit long but it worth it and in any cases you will have a great moment in his cute restaurant. Charlie runs everything himself (cooking and services). Probably one of the best food you can find in crete (and we already spend 3 weeks in this island).

and the focus is in the simplicity, good food and food vibes.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Saw this place on google maps and decided to try it out! It's off the main road, so expect to go through a gravel road and follow the red arrow to the restaurant.
The restaurant is located on a hill and has a great view of the mountains, surrounded by a lot of olive trees and other beautiful plants.
Charlie makes all the food himself and greets the customers, cleans up etc. If you are in a rush, this may not be the place for you. He prepares the items fresh to order so it will take some time for you to get your meal.
We ordered the mixed starters for 2, grilled octopus and grilled honey smoked chop. I was already getting quite full from the 2 person starter, and the meat portions were white big, so I was definitely full. They were also grilled perfectly ?
The prices are more than fair for what you're getting.
The fruits he served at the end were also probably the most ripe and juciest oranges and watermelon so far on Crete!
+ love being entertained by the cats on location
Will definitely be back!

The food would be worth a 6/5 Star rating.
Note That there is only a capacity of 8 tables, so you better be quick to not miss this absolute gem of a cretan culinary experience, combined with the warm-hearted hospitality of Charlie!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Such a brilliant taverna. Charlie runs this place all by himself in his house that he built himself. He takes your order then prepares, cooks and serves everything on his own. Due to this, do not expect the fastest service but the guy is an inspiration and his food is up there with the best Greek food I’ve ever had. A great experience!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Charlie’s place really is a hidden gem. It’s beautifully located with a stunning view over the mountains and the river. Charlie welcomed us with an open heart and made sure we are having a great time. It actually felt like being invited to a dinner at an old friends home. The food was so great - everything prepared, cooked and served freshly by Charlie himself. All in all we had the best dinner experience of our stay there and even came back a second time during our one week holiday. Will definitely be back next time we visit Crete!
