At first glance it looks like a regular souvlaki shop, with sauces and condiments lined up at the front, pita breads being grilled and potatoes being fried. It even smells familiar, but if you look closely, you will notice that there is no meat in sight or, to be exact, no animal products. Welcome to Cookoomela Grill, Greece’s first vegan souvlaki spot.

Not only the prices are perfect for the quality of food that you get, the mushroom gyros, the lentil kebab and the potatoes are DELICIOUS! And all done without any cruelty involved. Bonus is that the owner is a sweet vegan soul, very kind to help you with anything you need. He even treated us with 2 pitas free of charge for our upcoming long flight back to Toronto! Thank you, cookoomela! ❤️
R	Riki Ross on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Insanely good. Fluffy homemade flatbread with great char and flavour. Packed with lentils, potatoes, tsatziki, fresh tomatoes or mushroom gyros with a green take on a coleslaw. Both cost absolutely nothing and taste incredible. Vegan food at its very best.

We also had a hard time finishing everything. These babies are loaded with yummy mushroom goodness. Definitely worth a visit.

This place has changed name and location since we last visited (was Amanita) but the souvlaki are just as delicious as we remembered! Antonis is welcoming and warm, his vegan souvlaki are simply yummy! We tried the the burger- absolutely delicious!! Juicy and filling but not heavy on the stomach- fresh tasting and healthy! We also had the classic mushroom souvlakia- it’s a taste sensation with every bite. The toppings on their own are so good, I would buy jars of them...beetroot aioli, houmous and vegan mayo (yellow one)- sooooo good! Highly recommended!!! We are trying to convince him to open a shop in the UK- so we can eat it everyday.
