Το κτίριο της Alpha Bank, παλιότερα στέγαζε την Ιονική Τράπεζα και κτίστηκε το 1913, πάνω στα ερείπια του ναού του Αγίου Ρόκκου. Ο ναός του Αγίου Ρόκκου κτίστηκε το 1595 προς τιμήν του Αγίου Ρόκκου ο οποίος ήταν Γάλλος ευγενής και έζησε το 1295-1327. Έγινε γνωστός για τις φιλανθρωπικές του δραστηριότητες και την αυταπάρνηση που έδειξε, βοηθώντας τους αρρώστους από πανούκλα στην Ιταλία που είχε βρεθεί ως προσκυνητής. Για τους λόγους αυτούς η εκκλησία τον ανακήρυξε Άγιο, αντίστοιχο στις θαυματουργικές ικανότητες με τον Άγιο Χαράλαμπο της Ορθόδοξης Εκκλησίας. Ο ναός είχε οκταγωνική μορφή με τρούλο. Χτίστηκε από ελεημοσύνες των πιστών, προς τιμή του Αγίου μετά τη λήξη της φοβερής πανούκλας που μάστιζε το Χάνδακα, ανάμεσα στα 1592-1594. Με την άλωση του Χάνδακα από τους Τούρκους μετατράπηκε σε λουτρό από τον Δεφτερδάρ Αχμέτ Πασά, ενώ αργότερα έγινε μακαρονοποιείο. Ο ναός καταστράφηκε από φωτιά κατά τη φοβερή σφαγή της 25ης Αυγούστου 1898. Beautiful building on 25th August Street. This particular Alpha Bank branch does not have public funds. The Alpha Bank building, formerly the Ionian Bank, was built in 1913 on the ruins of St. Rocco's temple. The church of St. Rocco was built in 1595 in honor of St. Rocco who was French nobleman and lived in 1295-1327. He became known for his charitable activities and the self-denial he showed, helping the plague sufferers in Italy who had been found as a pilgrim. For these reasons, the church declared him Saint, corresponding to miraculous abilities with Saint Charalambos of the Orthodox Church. The temple was octagonal with a dome. It was built by the loyalty of the faithful, in honor of the Saint after the end of the terrible plague that ravaged Candia between 1592-1594. With the capture of Candida by the Turks, it was turned into a bath by Deferer Ahmet Pasha, and later became a warehouse. The temple was destroyed by fire during the terrible massacre of August 25, 1898.
