★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Το προτελευταίο φράγμα που έφτιαξε η ΔΕΗ στην Ελλάδα. Κατασκευάστηκε μέσα σε 4 χρόνια και ξεκίνησε την λειτουργία το φθινόπωρο του 1999. Αδελφό φράγμα με το φράγμα του Θησαυρού. Είναι φτιαγμένο από RCC (από στάχτη και μπετόν). Λειτουργεί με 2 μονάδες των 55 Mw. Η τεχνική του λίμνη είναι πλέον ένας μοναδικός βιότοπος. Τι κρίμα που δεν είναι προσιτός στον κόσμο με δραστηριότητες που θα μπορούσαν να εκμεταλλευτούν την υπέροχη φυσική ομορφιά...
The penultimate dam made by PPC in Greece. It was built in 4 years and started operations in the autumn of 1999. Sister dam with the treasure dam. It is made of RCC (from ash and concrete). It works with 2 units of 55 Mw. The technique of the lake is now a unique habitat. What a pity that is not accessible to the world with activities that could take advantage of the wonderful natural beauty ...

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Platanovrissi Dam is located on Nestos river 12 km east to Thissavros Dam and 30 km northwest to Stavroupoli. The dam was erected for hydro power generation as a part of a shared system with Thissavros Dam.
It has a power generation capacity of 116 MW, and it became active at 1998, two years after Thissavros dam started operating.
The dam is 95 meters high and 270 meters long and its construction created a spectacular fyord along Nestos river.
Platanovrissi Dam and Thissavros Dam complement each other as a single system. Water from Platanovrissi lake are pumped and transfered back to Thissavros lake during the night (when there's less demand for electricity).
The whole area has a breathtaking beauty and you can get here on the narrow road from Mesochori.
