★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Τhe basilica (church) was built in the 6th century. This is the third basilica located in Toroni.
There is not any direct historical information about it. According to the oral tradition of Sykia, the icon of Saint Athanasios, to whom is dedicated the adjacent modern monastery and the church of Sykia, was found in this location.
The central aisle had a mosaic floor, from which few parts were saved, due to the many burials that took place there during the retreat of space. The themes that are distinguished are mainly herbal jewels and diamonds in squares. The mosaic is surrounded by a 30 cm wide belt made up of seaweed pebbles, as in the basilica of Nikia's in Elia beach. The floor of the northern slopes was paved with rectangular bricks, while in the rest of the temple (southern aisle, splint, and apes) it seemed to be of dense soil.
