The museum is situated just outside of the village Fodele in a beautiful and quiet environment. The girl at the entrance is very friendly and helpful with information. The museum itself is small but it shows very well the work of El Greco, the colors he used and his technique. Next to the museum you can sit and relax and enjoy a fesh orange juice made from the oranges of the village.

Tiny museum but I loved the scenario. I mean the way its styled with all the pictures and the lighting. Specially the little worshop room with an ancient style decoration and sketches of the paintings.

Very nice, comfortable place. There are practically no people. Not far from the track. Of course you will not see authentic exhibits, as well as genuine paintings, but you can get an idea of where the youth of the famous artist passed. And it’s just amazing to walk around a very picturesque place.

The museum gets you in the mood of ElGreco's artistic greatness. I also enjoyed the yard and the nearby cafe.

This is not the El Greco house. This is an alleged residence. Not worth a visit really, all paintings are reproductions and not even proper canvases but prints. Very tenuous links with El Greco. You can spend your time and money elsewhere in Crete.

I actually feel disappointed with this "museum", as it does not contain any original or at least copied painting but an plastic lighted representatives. The only good thing was that we have skipped through wikipedia to read about the artist. He had lived in Crete when he was young. Some researchers say that he wasn't born in this place at all, so the El Greco's workplace could be a creature of imagination. A difficult road to reach this place. At least you can have some drink&coffee.

Nice to see the house of a great painter, even it was reconstected only upon his menories that he was born in a house near buzanthine church, still a nice place to visit. Go through few rooms with paintig reproduction, enjoy fresh juice in cafeteria near by, when in winter or after rain, ask for the way to the waterfalls.

The El Greco museum site is in a beautiful location. The area is rich in vegetation. The fertile ground is used to produce many crops, especially oranges. A little cafe next to the museum serves delicious hand squeezed orange juice and other treats. There are several shaded tables that allow for a peaceful, beautiful stay. There is a small church next to The museum that is often open if you would like to take a peek inside. The museum is simple, but the area is beautiful and worth the drive.
