Elpida Hotel, Zakynthos - Zakynthos

Really nice family business hotel with really nice people running the bar/cafeteria and small market. Nice swimming pool that becomes a fancy fountain at night. The bar man makes really good strong cocktails and is a really nice guy.

Bedbug Hell at THE ELPIDIA July 2018 Stayed at this hotel had room 340 & 341 at back of hotel 4th July and left 8th July due to bedbug infestation. I have stayed in this resort many times over the past 20 years and have never ever experienced this. Utterly disgusted my husband and my room was infested with bedbugs but also our 18 year old son's and his friend's room were crawling alive with them. I instructed my family to pack their things as we were leaving and went to find the owner to show him, he was obversely aware that he had a problem as he ommited the room was spayed in May. Unlucky for him my husband is a pest controller and knows what he is talking about when it comes to bedbugs. My husband checked our Friends 3 rooms above us and they too had them.How we were treated by the owner was disgusting and he was very lucky we did not tell all his guests. My main concern was leaving there as quick as possible, the rep arrived and had never seen them before and left to deal with it on her own and was unable to find us another hotel as it was Sunday evening we were left waiting outside for about 3 hours until they could find somewhere for all 9 of us to stay the night. They moved us to apartments across the road that the owner said they belonged to his friend, we reluctantly stayed the night but We was moved to another hotel the following day only after I called every hour on 3 occasions. We had to move to the next resort and our friends went to the hotel next door. I also have Video footage but cant upload, as you can see from the photos I am covered in bites which I still have and our holiday has been ruined. We have returned home with the worry of infesting our home but due to my husband doing this for a living he has taken every precaution to prevent this, other people staying here may not be so lucky

Well what can I say, the reason I have given this one star is because the owner and staff are lovely people. The hotel however was terrible, my partner and I arrived expecting to see a nice room at least but I'm sorry to say this wasn't the case. We were shown to our room which was situated right near the main road and our balcony was right on the pool edge. Needless to say we had no privecy and the noise from the traffic and pool bar area meant we couldn't sleep at night. Our room was disgusting and was in well need of updating, the beds were like something you would find in a prison cell and the bathroom tiles were dirty, paintwork shody. All in all we complaind to Thomos Cook as soon as we got there and we were moved to the hotel next door (100% better) we could not wait to get out of there. How the hell people can stay here is beyond me. Please be aware that if you book here don't stay in room 301.

If you do go here and a lot of people went back again but ask for a change if you have room 301 very close to the main road traffic alnight, close to the pool so noise from that . The room was a big let down from the pictures on the website old furniture and the beds were something out of a prison. Black marks on the bathroom walks it was such a letter down on the holiday. Staff were good but the room was disgusting.

A nice cosy resort, good for kids, families and couples. Relaxing atmosphere, very inexpensive bar (ace cocktails) with good quality snacks and meals. Thanks to Spyros, his family and all the staff, for being very helpful and friendly. NB try contacting the hotel direct via their website to book a room and book your own flights! Which is what we hope to do next year. It will be a lot cheaper than a package deal.

Love this hotel. Staff are friendly, accommodating and helpful. Lovely homely feeling. This is the second time we've been would recommend it to anyone wanting to stay in the area.

Lovely family owned apartments with adults and children's pool,on site shop bar and restaurant. The family make you so welcome and do everything and anything they can to make your Greek holiday the best you could get on the island of zakynthos. I would only recommended this fantastic place to couples and families. I have been for the past 3 years and I am booking again. 10 out of 10

Second visit Great family run place with basic but clean accommodation. Helpful and friendly staff. Great location,only 10 min stroll to beach and 2 min stroll to shops. Onsite mini market selling all essentials. Bus stop outside for trips or local transport. Great bar snacks.
