★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Casual refuge at a beautiful location of the Taygetos mountain. Picturesque scenery and perfect views. The access is easy by car (if there is not too much snow during the winter days), or from a hiking path which has starting point the Manganiaris springs. Friendly owners, great hospitallity.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Great looking refugee, it was closed as per usual for all Greek refuge's. It is in a good shape and just 3 hours away from the summit. The access road is scenic but really bad.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Very nice refuge with friendly and accommodating owners. We found it open by chance (on a Friday, end of July) as it was a full moon and many people go to summit at that time. Call in advance if you want to find it open with food etc! If you plan to go there by car DO NOT follow google maps as it takes you from Xirokampi village where the road is not taken care off! You can get stuck even with a 4x4. Go to Maganiari springs (from Palaiopanagia village) and take the large dirt road up, suitable for normal cars too.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ THE place to start the hike to the mountain peak in three hours less. Even it was closed several people spent the night before up here to start early. All were 4WD except us. So ist is doable (coming from the spring) but one needs to be a bit brave especially when driving in the dark.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ However it was closed at the New Year's Day the place is great with wonderful views. Great space for camping. No snow, the road was accessible from Manganiari Springs but we left the car like 10min away as there was one dangerous place washed by water.
Unfortunately the phone to the shelter's custody didn't answered so we couldn't arrange the accomodation there. Nevertheless - worth visit on the way to Profitis Illias
