★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This was a wonderful place. It is kind of hidden, you only see a small sign to it. We stopped by almost by accident. What luck! Everything was great. The meat, the apetizers, olive oil, deserts, even the bread... and compared to what you get, the price is very good. Lastly, there is also a beautiful vineyard behind. Best food I had in Greece so far!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ An absolutely gorgeous place! After several dinners in Ancient Epidaurus we found this little gem. The restaurant is family owned and the service is impeccable! Not to speak of the food ? We had a lot of starters - mezzes - and especially the onion stew was incredible! The fava bean puree was also the best we've had anywhere in Greece.
The place is charming and very cosy. We tried various places but always found ourselves back at "The Monk"

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Lovely garden atmosphere and beautiful (huge) green salad with sundried tomatoes that we split. Needed more dressing. We also got a cheese we had never heard of and it was aged and delicious, sort of like Tomme. House white wine was pretty good. We don’t mind being charged for bread and olives, however it would be nice to be asked first. Dip bread in the oil at the bottom of the olives! The nonverbal cues we were reading suggested annoyance at us ordering a small amount, but we could be wrong. It was a bit on the late side when we arrived (tho hours before close) with no one around and the owner couple sat down to eat and we were not asked if we wanted dessert. We did, actually, so we felt really awkward asking them to get up from their meal and get us dessert! Finally my husband asked and offered to take it to go because it seemed like they wanted us gone and so the woman brought it (if a bit begrudgingly). They seem like they don’t care if they have business because they were not very welcoming. Nobody should have to ask people who are eating dinner for a bill or dessert… super awkward. Maybe it’s normal in Greece, though, not sure.
